Greed is a selfish and excessive desire for something more than what is needed. Greed is an impure motive that we, as a people of greatness must rid from our souls. This selfish desire inhibits us from fulfilling God’s plan for our lives for our maximum potential. Greed is a tool used by your own personal enemy that causes you to betray and defy others around you. However, this evil is always utilized for the good of the one that is betrayed. For instance, it was the commodity called “greed,” found in the soul of Judas that was the tool used to get Jesus to His ultimate purpose in life. Remember, Judas was chosen by Jesus, and he was aware of his greed. That’s why I adamantly believe that what was meant for evil will be used for your good. Jesus’ soul was in a state of purity, which is why He commands us to be holy as He is holy. Holy is not a denomination, dress attire, or plain face. Holiness is a state of mind that must remain pure in every area of life. That’s why Christ commands us to govern our souls (mind, emotions, and will). Don’t let greed over power your mind today! Sometimes it helps to simply ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?” Remember, God supplies all your needs, so if you feel the need to make an excuse of why you must have what desire, then who is doing the supplying…you or God?
